Empowering Franchise Success
FranchiseED exists because too many businesses enter franchising before they are ready — and too many people pay the price for that.
Why FranchiseED Exists
FranchiseED exists for one reason:
To help good businesses become great franchises - properly.
Not rushed. Not templated. Not driven by someone else's sales targets.
Too often, business owners are encouraged to pursue franchising before their model is sufficiently designed, understood, or resourced. The consequences are rarely limited to the founder. They are frequently borne by franchisees who invest significant capital, time, and trust into systems that were never adequately built to support their success.
FranchiseED was created to change that — one business at a time.
Because a franchise should create opportunity for everyone involved. Not headaches.
How Kerry Miles came to build FranchiseED
I didn't arrive in franchising by accident. I grew up around it.
My father was a franchisee, which meant from an early age I had a front-row seat to what business ownership really looks like — not the polished version in brochures, but the day-to-day reality. The pressure, the responsibility, the personal investment it takes to make something work. That experience gave me a deep respect for the people inside franchise systems — not just the brands, but the individuals who take the risk and show up every day.
In the early 2000s, I became a franchisor myself. That experience was pivotal. It gave me first-hand insight into what it really takes to build and scale a franchise system — the decisions, the pressures, and the responsibility that comes with leading others. But it also showed me something else. There was a gap.
Too many people were entering franchising without truly understanding it. Too many systems were being built without the right foundations. And too many people — both franchisors and franchisees — were navigating a complex model without clear, practical guidance.
That realisation led me into my next chapter.
I spent the following decade as General Manager of the Franchising Centre at Griffith University — working at the intersection of education, industry, and government. I developed commercial programs, delivered workshops, and contributed to national initiatives focused on improving franchising outcomes. I saw franchising from every angle — franchisors, franchisees, regulators, and advisors. I saw what worked, what didn't, and where the industry needed to evolve.
When that chapter ended, the direction was clear.
FranchiseED was built to bring together everything I had learned — as a franchisor, as an educator, and as someone who had seen the industry from multiple perspectives — and turn it into something practical, structured, and genuinely useful.
Not consulting for the sake of it. Not theory for the sake of it. Real support that helps people build something that actually works.
"Franchising is more than just expanding a business. It's about creating a successful and sustainable network. My goal is to help franchisors build models that work — not just for today, but for long-term success."

Experience you can rely on
20+ years in franchising
Across multiple roles — franchisee's family, franchisor, educator, researcher, and mentor. Few advisors have seen the industry from this many angles.
Certified Franchise Executive
Certified by the Franchise Council of Australia — the peak body for the franchising sector in Australia.
Adjunct Research Fellow
University of the Sunshine Coast. Kerry's guidance is grounded in ongoing academic research, not just industry convention.
Former GM, Griffith University Franchising Centre
A decade leading one of Australia's most respected franchise education programs — developing national programs, workshops, and industry initiatives.
This combination — practitioner, educator, and researcher — is rare in the franchise advisory space. It means the guidance you receive is grounded in lived experience and evidence rather than templates or sales incentives.
How we work
It's personal
FranchiseED is not a large consultancy. It is a focused, founder-led practice — which means when you work with FranchiseED, you work directly with Kerry.
Kerry works with a deliberately small number of clients at any one time. This is intentional. Depth of engagement matters more than volume. You will never be handed to a junior associate or put through a generic process.
It's always practical
Every engagement starts with your situation — not a formula. Kerry's role is to help you think clearly, pressure-test your assumptions, and make decisions you can stand behind.
Sometimes that means challenging the model. Sometimes that means slowing down. Sometimes it means addressing the hard questions nobody else has asked.
Always, it's practical. No over-engineering, no jargon, no filler. Just clear thinking, structured frameworks, and steady progress.
What guides everything we do
Clarity over complexity
If it's not clear, it's not ready. We help founders cut through noise and make decisions from understanding rather than pressure.
Reality over hype
Franchising is not a shortcut. It is a model that must work in practice — for the franchisor and for every franchisee who joins the system.
Structure drives success
Strong systems and clear frameworks are the foundation of scalable businesses. We start with the model, not the marketing.
Independence and integrity
FranchiseED has no referral arrangements, no commissions, and no vested interest in the outcome of your decision. Advice is grounded in evidence and experience.
Sustainable growth
The goal is not fast growth. The goal is repeatable, profitable growth — built on foundations that support franchisee success over the long term.
Why we do this work
To support business owners in designing, assessing, and strengthening franchise models through informed, research-led, and practical guidance.
We work with founders who are preparing to franchise or seeking to stabilise an existing system — helping them make better decisions, build more complete models, and approach growth with full awareness of the consequences.
What we're working toward
To be a trusted, steady presence for business owners navigating the decision to franchise — recognised for clarity, rigour, and integrity.
Not the biggest name in franchising. The most reliable one. The advisor founders turn to when the decision matters and the consequences are long-term.
